Anyone have experience with Verapamil sr

My doctor justed switched me from 90mg nifedipine to 180mg verapamil I am currently taking with Verapamil- 40mg lisinopril 25mg hctz and 12.5mg atenolol after 4 days blood pressure is about 140/90. the nifedipine seemed to control it a little better. Doc says if this dosage don't work after about a week he is going to double it to verapamil 360mg. Anyone have any advice. Should I double it or try something else or should I go back to nifedipine and increase that. I feel horrible on both nifedipine and verapamil. I always have funny feelings in my head. Like throbbing heart beat on right side or dizziness like room is spinning. Trying to kick Atenolol I'm down to 12.5mg from the 50mg i was on the past couple years, but can't take less than the 12.5 without bad side afffects. CCB seem to control my BP best.

Re: Anyone have experience with Verapamil sr

After I had a valve replaced they changed me from Norvasc and lisonipril to Varapamil and some other combo. I felt like **** the whole time . My Dr. put me on Norvasc and Topril XL and I am fine. Some swelling in lower leg when on feet alot, but BP under control and I feel good. Varapamil is terrible.

Re: Anyone have experience with Verapamil sr

My sister had to discontinue verapamil because of frequent headaches.
They switched her to Norvasc which she hated and then to Ziac (a beta-blocker) which she ALSO hated.
Last week she started on linsinopril and we both hope it works but I am skeptical because we react so similarly to drugs, genetic probably, and I am an ACE COUGHER!

Re: Anyone have experience with Verapamil sr

My mom takes verapamil 120 mg (suppose to be 240 mg) and she suffered headaches and nightmares at first. However, the headaches went away after four or five weeks. Like Lenin, she tried norvasc and toprol xl and they were the worst. She took lisinopril for many yrs but became allergic to them.

Do you think that maybe the toprol xl or atenolol is the cause of your misery. When my mom took both of those she complained of feeling weird, tired and out of whack.
