No your numbers weren't very high and I think your choice to forego drugs is a good one.
Life is better without atenolol isn't it? |
Hi there Lenin
Cheers for your comments. Yeah, life is sweet since being off Atenolol. I really do feel like my old self now and I have so much more energy and no longer feel depressed.
The readings I gave in my post are the readings I had when the doctor prescribed me Atenolol. I don't know what my blood pressure is at the moment as he didn't take it (he was too busy trying to convince me to take Ramipril). I had a feeling my readings weren't too high so I don't understand why he had the urgency to get me onto Atenolol when they weren't too bad. The thing that bugs me is that I virtually begged with him to let me try to lose the final stone, exercise more and cut coffee/tea out of my diet to see if that could bring the numbers down but he told me that my readings were just too high and required treatment.
But it's in the past now. I need to move forward but I do feel angry

cos I feel I was taking something that probably wasn't really necessary. I mean, was my life in danger????
I hope you are well and it is nice to come here and chat.
Christine
