New to BP board..

Hey everyone, I am new to this part of the board. I guess I came to this board to vent a little and then see if I could get any feedback on my situation. It has been a really rough 3 weeks for me. Anyways, here is my story.

First off, I am a 25 male who is overweight, but I work out 5 days a week doing 30 to 45 minutes of cardio and lifting for another 30 minutes each day and haev been doing this for a year and a half. I eat fairly healthy, I usually have alot of veggies and fruits and only drink diet if it is soda. I splurge like everyone and will order pizza once a week but I am more of a Subway kind of guy. On June 1st I had my gall bladder removed, the pathology tested positive for gall bladder disease. Anyways, last Friday I had a headache all day and attributed it to allergies. When I got home, I realized my ankles were extremely swollen. I went into work on Saturday and I was still not feeling welll. I decided to go to the EMT's and have them check my BP. When they were done my BP was 179/111 and my resting pulse was 97. I decided at this point to go to the ER. They checked for clots etc. and took my BP again and this point while just resting my BP was 188/116 and my pulse was 101. The ER doc ended up giving me Dyozide to reduce my BP and decrease the swelling. My BP did drop but only to 165/101. I went back on Tuesday, and they did blood tests etc. and gave me Atenonol. Since then my BP has dropped daily and is down to 140/85 and my pulse is around 65. High blood pressure does run in my family, but I find it weird that I went into the surgery with my BP at 125/76 and a pulse of 73 and then 2 weeks after I notice major change in my BP.

My question I guess would be, has anyone heard of anything like this? My doctors have been good about getting the BP under control, but just act like I am going to be taking the meds for ever. I was perfectly healthy before the surgery and now my blood pressure is still kind of high with the pills. It is very disturbing to me. Please, any advice, help or similar stories would be appreciated.
