Normal blood pressure high pulse rate - High & Low Blood Pressure Message Board

Hi,

I had open heart surgery July of 2006, almost one year ago. Three by-passes. I am a 42 year old female. This week I have had problems breathing, a little tightness or strange feeling in chest. Blood pressure had been normal...........120's over 70's...........pulse rate has fluctuated.........I can feel it beating out of my chest or so it seems.........has been as high as 130, BP still normal.

My doctor called me in some nitroglycerin and they may help a little..........but they cause my pulse rate to elavate, at least for a few minutes...........for example I took a nitro about an hour ago and my heart raced, pulse got up to 114.............now its down to 72.

Weather has been a little warmer this week with high humidity and polon is bothering me a little.

Any thoughts?

I suffer from anxiety blood pressure. Sometimes my BP will be 145/94 with a pulse of 100. Lately it has been 130/80 with pulse as high as 110! I think its a good thing if your BP doesn't rise systematically with your pulse, but not sure.

My pulse is always significantly higher when I am anxious, no matter what my bp is.

Breezie,

I just read your post. Could I ask you a few questions? I am having problems with my breathing and was wondering if our symptoms might be similar.

You mention tightness/strange feeling in your chest...do you also get this same sensation in your lungs? (A heavy, squeezing, strange feeling, just on the verge of being painful)
With this tightness going on, does your stomach start hurting?
Do you experience waves of nausea at this point?
Can you feel your heart start racing?
Do you become lightheaded?
One more question: are you on beta blockers?

Your answer would be much appreciated.
