Re: FG re: first day of work & b/p meds

Thank you so much for asking! It was great!

Got many hugs & good wishes from staff & clients. Such a warm & touching welcome, I almost cried. It's so good to be back! It almost feels as if I'd never left.
I had a nausea/vomiting episode last night & this morning. My stomach hurt & the nausea got worse and worse...I had little to eat for dinner. Good, healthy stuff. Geez. I was so glad I put off taking the meds this morning until just before I left for work at 7:30. After only a couple of sips of coffee I found myself in trouble. I didn't know a little bit of coffee on an empty stomach could make a person sick. I have to inform myself what the triggers for GERD are. Can the BP medication be a primary cause of GERD?
I now worry about my bum knee, of all things! I also have what the doc says are cysts on both of my shins which kind of look like an upright string of small beads. This is also new. I hope they are not some calcium or uric acid deposits. He says I'll have an ultrasound for that. I wonder if these things are the side effects of my meds. If you read my other post, it explains the knee problem.
I feel almost back to normal. I am so much better, compared to just a couple of weeks ago. My breathing has improved significantly. I had no problems with it today. I think the PPIs really help with the nausea and the breathing. My blood pressure has been perfect (it spiked pretty high last night).

take care,
flowergirl

Oh FLowergirl,

I am so very, very, very happy for you!!!! I know everyone is happy to have you back! And I do hope you won't forget about us.

Hope your GERD situation improves...as with your knees. But you're aware of what's going on (that is to say you know your own body) so you'll figure something out with the help of your doctors.

But again, so happy to hear it went well...and I'm sure it'll only get better!!

((((Hugs))))

Re: FG re: first day of work & b/p meds

Thank you for the hugs and for thinking of me. With any luck, my life will slowly return to the way it used to be. It looks like I will be able to pull it off.
Have a nice trip! We will miss your posts.
I am so glad things worked out for you and you are now pain and med-free. One cannot ask for more. I like your attitude and optimism, and the fact that you so willingly share your experiences with others. Get back safely!

PS. I just read your other post in which you mentioned a loss of a family member. Your going away is not a happy occassion. I am so sorry for your loss!

Re: FG re: first day of work & b/p meds

FG,

Your nausea & vomiting are worrisome. Of course, I always think of potassium problems first because of the diuretics. But then you have the acid reflux issue.

I think you need to consider stopping coffee because of the caffeine & the other chemicals in it. It is a strong irritant to the stomach. Now that you have to take meds your stomach is just more vulnerable. I know how are it is to give up your coffee. I had to do it when I was only 24 & I loved it. At that time I got heart palpitations so badly one night at a fair that I just went "cold turkey.) I tried it several yrs later & the same thing happened. Even decaf does the same thing cause of the other chemicals in coffee.

Decaf tea is easier on the stomach. I find Lipton black tea even calms my stomach at times if I eat the wrong thing. Prevention magazine said tea is relaxing which I find. Maybe because I associate tea with all the tea parties my friends & I had at college.

Also the garlic capsules can be a problem too. I can't even touch garlic which I love. I used to be able to eat a little garlic powder on food before meds. Love the smell. Dr. Oz keeps promoting garlic.

I'll think about those cysts on your knee & the stuff on your shin. Maybe I could check my derm book.

Fam
