High Blood Pressure Meds and Excessive Sweating

I am at my wits end. I have terrible excessive sweating that comes on at all different times. I sweat terribly on the head area. I mean dripping sweat and wet hair. I was wondering if hbp meds can cause this. I take metoprolol, lisinopril, norvasc and hctz.

Count yourself lucky that you are able to sweat. I get the excess heat & I sweat very rarely. Beta blockers do cause heat intolerance from what I read.
Wear cotton clothing & keep fans everywhere. Fam

Re: High Blood Pressure Meds and Excessive Sweating

I used to experience this all the time when my BP was not under control. I've been under control at 120/75 for about a year now and have noticed I don't experience the sweat attacks as much but I do still get them once in a while.

Prior to control my "norm" was 165/110. I'm slightly overweight. (BMI 27) Used to be on high doses of metoprolol (not anymore).

Hope that helps.

Re: High Blood Pressure Meds and Excessive Sweating

I had that excessive sweating when I was on ARBs and also when I was ACEs, back to normal at the same day I stop medication. Now I'm on a CCB called Diltiazem, the same group as Norvasc, and no such sweating at all. The problem is that you take 4 different medications, and it's hard to know which one is doing what. But if you ask me I would say it's the lisinopril.

Wow... that's a lot of BP meds... basically one from each class of drugs. Why so many?

I wonder what are the side effects you experience, being on all those meds.
