I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken Inderal for high blood pressure. If so, how soon did you notice results and what side effects did you have? I have migranes too and my dr. said that the inderal should help that too..
Inderal (propranolol) is the oldest of the beta-blockers and works as well as the others but has to be taken several times a day (unless you have the time release formula).
It's marginal at best for helping migraines.
Side effects are impotence, weight gain, and exhaustion. There are far better classes of drugs for HBP, but if indeed they control your migraines that would put them at the top of your personal list.
Time will tell.
It doesn't control BP all that well, so monitor closely. I gave it up soon.
A nice side effect is a small dose is an EXCELLENT treatment for stage fright....for real!

I have been taking inderal la for about 6 weeks now and I have noticed a difference in my blood pressure. I also suffer from migraines. I used to get migraines about once a week-I have only had one since i started on the inderal. My blood pressure is almost on the low side, but the dr said it was better off low than high. Hope this helps...
I took Inderol years ago. It didn't do anything for my migraines.
I don't remember why the doctor took me off of it but I just remember that he didn't feel it was working well for me.
Now, years later, I was just recently tried on another Beta Blocker.
It works. My BP and Pulse had become quite bad and difficult to control.
It also has changed my migraines.
I still have migraines but they are about cut in half in the intensity.
The aura is literally cut in half.
