It wouldn't hurt to check with your Dr. but probably you will be fine. Dr's should start with the lowest dose & work up until one's b/p is at the reasonable level. Sometimes one can tolerate a medicine better by allowing one's body to adjust to it. I've done most of my meds this way in spite of the DR's objections. They want to get a good number to write in the chart as fast as possible.
Sometimes with very high b/p one has to start with a higher dose.
I bought two medical textbooks on Hypertension & it says to start low & go slow. Maybe some of our Dr's were sleeping through that class.
