| Re: why is my BP not going down? On diovan and atenolol
It would seem that with the meds you're on you'd be getting better results. The atenolol is probably what's keeping your pulse down.
I've been pretty well controlled on an ARB and a beta blocker for a number of years now, but in recent months my bp has been climbing up. It's now reached a dangerous level (as high as 180/110) so my doctor has ordered some tests, which I'll start tomorrow: a 24-hr. urine test to look for evidence of adrenal overactivity and a renal scan to look for renal artery stenosis. (I should add that I'm a 52-year-old female, and I've been taking Lexapro for anxiety for a couple of months now, which is why my doctor is focusing first on potential adrenal causes.)
You might ask your doctor about looking into reasons you're not getting adequate results. Best of luck to you!
