Why does my automatic monitor do this?

Usually, it will pump up to 160-175 or so, then deflate and give me my reading. But sometimes it pumps up to maybe 160 or so (the lower end), then starts deflating, then beeps a few times, and pumps way up to like 200, then deflates for the reading.

Also, how does the monitor determine how high to pump? Why does it change from day to day?

It is just the nature of the devices. I own two different brands of high quality cuff monitors and they both do that from time to time.

I hate when mine does that! makes me think my BP is high, i also hate when i get the error, makes me think everything is so high the machine can't read it.
