Question Lisinopril 20mg

In addition to metropolol , I have been prescribed lisinopril 20mg once daily for high blood pressure. The lisinopril has been making me a bit dizzy because it has dropped my BP too low for my body. (I get home reading between 100/60 and even lower at its peak level) When it's time for another dose, my BP is around 125/70). I have started cutting back to 10mg daily (splicing the pill in half). Is there a weaning process to stop taking lisinopril? I have been on it for about 2 months.

P.S. When my BP is in the range of 130 or 135/70 or 80, I feel just fine. I believe this range is "normal" for my body. Some doctors are determined to have it "by the book" @ 120/80 which honestly is slightly low for my body.

I've heard you don't need to be weaned off ACE inhibitors, is this true?

Re: Lisinopril 20mg

Hi SC,

This has been my experience with Lisinopril as well. How long did the med take to start working? When my BP gets below 125/80 I have the same problem. I take 10 mg. and after 5 weeks it has fianally reduced my BP to those levels. I am going to see if I can take 5 mg. Perhaps this will keep me at about 125+/80+ 100/60 is way too low. It will be even lower when you sleep. You shouldn't quit suddenly, but I would try and stop the Beta Blocker first and see if the Lisinopril alone can do the job. What is your pulse rate?

Regards, Brenden.

Re: Lisinopril 20mg

My pulse rate since starting lisinopril over the past two months is from a low 58 to 82. Primarily in the 60-70+ range.

Re: Lisinopril 20mg

I just started taking 20mg of lisinopril last week and oddly enough my systolic # has gone up. The last few days it's been as high as 185!

When I was taking 10 mg it was fine. Go figure!!!!

Re: Lisinopril 20mg

I had to go look back through all my papers (I keep track everyday) and found that the highest it was was 151 with it usually being 116 to 125.

Today it was 181. I feel like I'm going to jump out of my skin or I'm so tired I yawn all the time and the worse is I am always gasping for air. Drives me nuts!!
