Question Is ToprolXL available where you live?
I am being told that there is major supplier problems with Toprol or Metaprolol Succinate. My doctor has changed me to Metaprolol Tartrate which is the trade name for Lopressor.

I don't think it is controlling me as well right now.

I am interested if anyone else has been told that Toprol is not available.

Metaprolol Succinate isn't available in north Florida right now either. I have been getting the brand name Toprol XL. I hope they get their manufacturing issues solved soon, or I will have to go to Metaprolol Tartrate as well.

There was a very large FDA recall of all Generic Metoprolol Succinate (generic Toprol) and regular metoprolol about 2 months ago. The worst of the generic pills was manufactured by Ethex pharmaceutical. The best and safest drugs were manufactured by PAR pharmaceutical and of course Astra Zeneca which manufactures the Toprol XL brand drug. Toprol XL and Metoprolol are still available in the New York area.

I was told it is no longer available too. My previous dosage with Metaprolol Succinate was 1/2 of a 25mg pill per day. I just picked up my new prescription (Metaprolol Tartrate) and the dosage is 1 pill 2 times a day!! Why would I need such an increase in dosage anyone know? My dr. was not available when I called so I have to wait till Monday.
