How long before BP medicine kick in?

I am on Altace 5mg. How long after I start should I see a change in blood pressure?

I have taken this for 10 days and my BP reading still is in the range of 140/96 so not sure how long before asking the Dr to change medicine? Thanks

Re: How long before BP medicine kick in?

You should have seen some results by now, you may need to go back to your Doctor, he may need to increase the strength of your medicine or put you on another type of medicine. I myself take lotrell 10/20 and atacand 16mg.

Re: How long before BP medicine kick in?

Was the 140/96 blood pressure an average of many readings, or just one reading?

Ace Inhibitors like Altace can lower blood pressure somewhat, but the most powerful "medications" that one can take to significantly lower blood pressure and improve health, are: Eating a healthy, balanced, appropriate diet; and exercise.
