treatment options~ causes

Over the past several weeks I have been very tired, short of breath & I'm sluggish just walking up stairs. I had thought it might have something to do with my asthma but I never got to the point where I needed/used my inhaler. Randomly checked my BP at Wal-Mart & it was a little high. I went in to my doctor two days later & in his office it was 170/110. I am 34 years old, 5'6 130lbs, don't drink or smoke & no BP issues in family. He ran several blood/urine tests (which all came back normal) & he put me on 10mg of liprinosol. I have been on meds for one week, BP remained high for two days and then went down on day 3 but after random checks have found it to be high a couple of times (172/98). I am wondering if I should ask him to do further testing. If so what should I ask for? At what point should I ask for a cardiac panel? I would rather "fix" the problem than take the meds which can cause kidney problems.

I just had a 2d echo cardiogram. I have a hard time going up the stairs as well, except my bp is very low like 80/60 - 90/70 but my pulse is 90-100.

You might want to ask about having it done, takes only 15 minutes.

Re: treatment options~ causes

I used to exercise 5 days a week (cardio & weights) but started slacking off when it started getting harder to catch my breath. Over the past 5 months my only exercise is a walk and/or bike ride once a week. My pulse lately is anywhere between 90-115 since the meds it has been running around 85. Last year before any of these issues my pulse usually ran about 65 and my BP stayed right around 130/70 or lower.

If you are short of breath, he should do further checking on your heart or lungs
