Amlovasc (Amlodipine / Norvasc) Side Effects
In 2007 I was prescribed AMLOVASC 5Mg to reduce my BP and Aspirin to protect against DVT. After taking the medication for 22 days, I started having bad hallucinations day and night, such as animals inside me. I felt that the problem must be the Aspirin, since I had taken BP tablets for 10 years prior and stopped the Aspirin. There was no real improvement , I visited my GP and changed from Amlovasc to Losarten. After 2 months the hallucinations subsided. In 2008, my BP increased dramatically and I was admitted to hospital overnight for investigation. BP dropped but was still too high and visited my GP (my normal GP was on holiday) so inadvertedly was given Amlovasc 5 Mg again. Unfortunately, I had not noted the original medication name, since I believed Aspirin was the cause of the problem in 2007. After 22 tablets again the same symptoms returned. I immediately stopped taking the Amlovasc and it took 2 months approx. to return to normality. GP said she believed it was calcium-based tablets that don't agree with me and I returned to Losarten and this was supplemented by Bendroflumethiazide 2.5Mg. In 2009, the hallucinations in a milder form returned making me depressed and making me believe I'm going crazy. Is there anyone who can help?
