High Blood Pressure and Sex Drive
I'm a 50 year old male in good health (non-smoker, mild drinker, eat right and exercise 3+ times a week). who has been dealing with a low sex drive for several years. I am able to achieve erections but with no inner drive and lack of morning erections I feel the lead is out of the pencil. Testosterone therapy didn't help and I've basically given up. Now I'll tie this with my blood pressure. I had what I thought was "white coat syndrome" and took 25mg of atenolol to help with that and my benign PVC's. I monitored my bp in the afternoon and it always looked good, 120/80 and lower. Well, by some accident I decided to take my bp early in the morning one day and it was 190/100. Called my GP and he upped my atenolol to 100mg taken at night. 5am bp upon awakening is 150/90 after 4 weeks. Called GP and he has me on HCZT now, 25mg taken for just a couple days. We'll see how it does.
My question is this...has my high bp in the am been causing my low libido and morning erection issue? Even if my bp does return to the normal range in the am I am concerned my GP has me on meds that are not conducive to trying to restore a healthy sex life. HELP!!! Any input would be appreciated.
