I have been taking Norvasc for the past 3 years, because of some side effects I asked my doctor to switch me to attacand, I heard a lot of good stories about this medicine, he pescribed me 16 mg an day along with 10 mg Ziac, after about 10 days my bp started to go up, after about 3 weeks I still haven't noticed a significant decrease in bp, the brochure that came with medication said that I would receive the maximun effect after about 6-7 weeks,however, I am getting very worried as I have had readings as high as 180/120, has anyone had any experience with this medication? Can anyone tell me how long it took them to
get a reduction in bp with this medication?
Have you called your dr. and told him/her about those high readings? I know it took the Altace a few months to really kick in for me, but I did see a decent difference within a few weeks. Those are to me, very high readings for being on medication, maybe U need an adjustment. Not all meds. work as well on some as they do on others. Thank you for the information, I have been to my Doctor,he put me 1 mg tenex in morning and evening in addition to Candesartan(atacand), I had to stop it because it made me dizzy. I started back on Norvasc and it quickly brought my bp under control, looks like I will have to live with Norvasc.
Well I am glad to see U contacted the dr. and they have it under control. Those numbers were way too high. I hope your side effects with the stuff your taking isn't too bad, as it seems to at least bring your pressure down. <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif"> I know it is a pain to have to live with the side effects, but if they aren't too bad, sure better than those lousy high numbers. I take 32mg. Atacand HCT (that is with the diuretic) and I am doing better on this than on Tiazac and Inderal. I do feel a little lightheaded (quite unpleasant) but I am on the highest dose. Maybe that is the reason your pressure keeps going up. You may need a higher dose.
I am now taking a combination of 10 mg Ziac,10 mg Norvasc and 16 mg of Atacand my bp holdind steady at average of 106/68, seems to be working good for me at this time.
