Hi everyone,
I just stopped taking a beta blocker because of the side effects. Now my pulse has really shot up there.
my resting pulse is around 80 or a little over.I have new meds for the blood pressure but they have no effect on the heart rate. I was wondering if any of you had to come off a beta blocker and what was it like.

One of the things beta blocker drugs do is reduce the pulse rate.

Your resting pulse rate of 80 is still within the normal range.

You don't indicate your age, weight or state of fitness but 80 to my mind shows that you don't exercise, its quite high for a true RHR. I am 43 and a runner and mine is mid-forties.

You may want to try Coreg. This reduces heart rate and BP with little or no side effects. For me, it took about a month to take effect but I am on a very low dosage. Anyhow, my resting rate is always 50-60 and really never exceeds 70. Try it. DK
