viagra and hypertension

Viagra lowers my presssure by an average of 30 points systolic, 15 points diastolic, with no ill effects. I have nasty fatigue with insomnia with beta blockers.Diuretics cause too many urination trips. I can't use Viagra every day to lower my BP, any ideas what other medications would work for me? Any ideas why Viagra works on me the way it does? Please help me. Thank you.

Re: viagra and hypertension

Viagra works on you the same as anyone else and it does have a side effect of lowering blood pressure (it actually works by inhibiting the degradation of an enzyme which causes the blood supply in the penis to dissipate), that is why it has certain contraindications. It is not and shouldn't e used as a blood pressure medication - and I don't know what you pay for it but it would be a damned expensive one at that.

If you have high BP you should get checked out by a doctor and get some proper meds. You said you are on beta blockers - are they for your BP? If they are and they don't suit you can get them changed - there are plenty of options and you should be able to find one that suits you and has no side effects.
