Reaction From Non-BP medication

I recently began taking a prescription of Effexor XR, and I am not quite sure if it's elevated my Blood Pressure readings or if it's just a coincidence. Since I've been taking it, I've been to the drs. office twice (once for a bad cold & the other for a follow up visit), and my 1st bp readings there both times were 134/84 and 130/110.
After my exam was finished each time, my dr. took my bp again, and the readings were 125/80 and 120/80. I asked the dr. if he though the Effexor has been raising my bp, and he said he didn't think that was it, and didn't seem concerned since the 2nd readings at each visit were normal. Has anyone out there been on Effexor XR? If so, did it have any effect on your BP? I guess I shouldn't worry about this...sure that doesn't help!
