Adding to the above post, if you take your reading in the mornings....you are cheating yourself.
The first hour after waking is the peak time for blood pressure. When you are sleeping your BP is almost non existent. The moment you raise your head and get up to pee, you elevate your BP by up to 10 times with in a few seconds,i.e.< the #1 time frame for heart attacks happen just after awakening (statisically in the elderly). It takes an hour for this to even out.
Your best readings can be taken within 3 hours of waking up. Do not take readings during work breaks. If you use tobacco, you reading will also be higher within 30 minutes during and after usage.
