Conflicting information!

I had my BP done today and is was measured at 140/82

The American Heart association tells us 140 or higher is Hypertension should I be worried?

The nurse told me ideally it should be lower and I should have a healthier life style. But was not unduly concerned with the reading!

A comment from JJ says I have no problem! Who do I trust?

Re: Conflicting information!

The post I responded to said their BP was 120/84 and I said it was fine. Anything up to 139 (top number) is normal, anything 140 to 159 is borderline, and anything over 160 is hypertention.

The bottom number is fine if it is less than 89, borderline 90-94 and hypertension more than 95. Having just one reading is not going to tell the whole story. If it is constantly 140 or above, or the bottom number is more than 90 constantly, then you need to change some things. Keep a record of your BP if U have a monitor at home and see what it says.
