| Re: Strange blood pressure readings, what gives?
There are several possible reasons for an increase in your top number (systolic) reading:
1. Age. As we get older the systolic reading increases, but should not exceed 140.
2. Increase in weight can have an influence.
3. If you took it at a machine in a commerical store, the machine itself might not be calibrated correctly at the time you took it.
Did you clear the increase in your medication with your doctor before you did it? In any case, to be safe, you should contact the doctor who prescribed the medication and discuss it with the doctor.
