Blood Pressure Tester--Advice??

I have used Blood Pressure Testers in the past but with not so good results. The test frequently did not agree with the test at the Doctor's Office.I have also found the automatic testers at some doctor's offices to be in error because I questioned the reading and later the Doc would take it and get a very different reading.

Is there a Company where you can buy a reliable Tester that is accurate.
Thanks----Harry

Re: Blood Pressure Tester--Advice??

Have you tried the Omron self inflateable one? I bought mine about a year ago and it has been to 3 different drs. and so far, pretty much on target. U just have to make sure you get one with a cuff size that is not overly big or small, as it will not get a good reading. Seems if the cuff is too small, you will get lower readings and vice versa for the bigger ones. Go to your local pharmacy and check them out and ask for some advice from them, that is what I did. I have heard the wrist ones are not very accurate at all. Good luck!! <IMG SRC="http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wave.gif"> JJ

Re: Blood Pressure Tester--Advice??

Hi, I agree about the automatic testers. Everytime I use the one at my local drugstore, I get a normal reading. I don't think it has ever been elevated there...then I go to the doctor...and it's over the top! My neighbor has a home machine and it is extremely accurate. I 'll get the name of it and post it if you are interested, she purchased it at a medical supply store.
