I am taking accupril--ACE inhibitor. Cough is a side effect, but the cough I am having is a racking one with some phlegm coming up. Sometimes I get croupy and can't stop coughing and need air. Anyone else have a cough like this with ACE? Perhaps it is something else.
I take Altace, another Ace and have the same problem, somedays more than others!! My brother-in-law takes it too and also has the cough. Sometimes it feels like a tickle in the throat and my eyes water something fierce. Sometimes I will get phelm up and sometimes not, just get the cough so bad it feels like it won't stop. Told the dr. about it and she is going to see how it does in another month, as it has gotten better, but the first 5 months were brutal!! Keep me posted how it goes. Good luck!! JJ
Thanks for the reply JJ. I have been on accupril for about 2 months. When I cough I bark like a seal and keep on and on!!! My family is getting to where they want me to sit outside!! LOL I cannot go to restaurants hardly for the coughing and embarassing everyone at the table. I have to take a trip with my daughter to Chattanooga, Tn. tomorrow for a few days and we will be staying in motels. She has a job interview there. I am now afraid I will keep her up--I may end up in the car!
Anyway, I am going to see about changing when I get back. Again, thanks for the reply.
Well I hope it gets better for you as I know what you are going through. Mine usually comes on just as I hit the bed. Sometimes I use to have to go in the back room as hubby was trying to be nice but I know I was keeping him up. I also have been out to a restaurant and if it starts I want to die of embarrassment. Mine has gotten much better, but in the begining, it was really aweful. Have a good trip and hope ya don't wide up sleeping in the car!! LMK how it goes when you are back. JJ
