High BP with cholesterol meds.?

I always had very low or average BP, 130/70 or lower, until I was put on cholesterol drugs last March. Not only did the drugs cause LOUSY side effects, but all of a sudden my BP is up? Somedays it goes up to 150/92 and I get a rapid heart rate. Last week I tOld my dr. I wasn't taking them any longer due to side effects, plus I am wondering if they caused the BP to go up out of nowhere. If it was the cholesterol drugs, how long till it goes back to normal if ever?
