White Coat??

Does anyone have any advice on staying relaxed during PCP office visits? The more I try to relax the harder it gets and of course my BP readings are high. At home, they are not nearly as high. I have borderline HBP. Please advise. DK

Re: White Coat??

I have the same problem. You need to find a Dr. that you can be comfortable with. Let them know your problem and a good Dr. will do their best to put you at ease. My Dr. doesn't even count my first reading. She talks to me in such a calming way, cracks stupid jokes and does everthing she can to relax me, then she takes a reading herself. My reading usually drops by 20 points or more. Remember, Drs. are people, not gods.
Good luck! And try to smile and laugh more.
