vitamin D3 and bp heart rate

Hi,

Last week I started supplementing Vit. D3 5,000 IU daily, because I don't go out at all in the morning. I have noticed that when I eat pizza, or junk food in general, my heart rate is around 85 and my bp isn't high as what happens to be after I eat the pizza. usually my heart rate goes up to 100 and sometimes even 110 after junk food.
Does anyone know if there is a relationship because vit d 3 and heart health? I haven't changed anything else in my diet or supplements except it.

Re: vitamin D3 and bp heart rate

Cartner,

I do not know if what you experiment is due to Vit. D. This is what I know:

Traditionally, Vit. D has been only associated with the capability of the bones to fix calcium. However, today, it is known that controls more than 200 genes, between others, the ones regulating angiogenesis.

As far as heart and cardiovascular system is related:

1) It regulates the immune system. Today it is known that the root of the CVD is inflammation which is due to an overreaction of the immune system. Decreased Inflammatory cytokines.
2) Lower systolic BP
3) Lower vascular resistance
4) Lower intima thickness
5) It is required for statins to produce its effects
6) Enhances myocardial contractility
7) Regulates BNP secretion
8) Reduce LV hipertrophy

Low levels of Vit. D are associated with increased mortal rates by CHF and SCD.

That particular information I got it from:
