Re: high blood pressure

My mom and husband were told they had high blood pressure. My mom's doctor immediately prescribed meds. My husband's doctor asked him to try the DASH diet first. I am so glad he did. DASH is a diet developed by the National Institutes of Health. You can find all kinds of info online for free. Mayo clinic even posts recipes. It brought my husbands BP down in 14 days. The whole family can benefit from eating this way.

Re: high blood pressure

It seems my blood pressure is lowering by itself. i went to the dr today and it was just 126/82. I dont know what was causing it to be so high.

Re: high blood pressure

Without medications? if that's the case then I think you have a pretty good chance of keeping it at that good range without drugs.

Yea I was taken off the drugs last week. The Dr. is real surprised. Thank you so much for all of your advice!

Re: high blood pressure

I'm very happy for you , I know how it feels when you expereince side effects and I know how it feels when you stop your medication and have good bp readings. It's like everything was taken away from, and now everything is given to you
Good luck,
Mike

Re: high blood pressure

mirena seriously screwed my friends BP badly. She went from slightly lower than normal to 190/110 on average. After they removed the IUD she improved slightly but had to go on BP meds to get it back to normal.

Re: high blood pressure

i believe that is my problem 2. im getting mine taken out monday 3/21/11. It has caused me nothing but trouble. I am having a hard time finding a good birth control me. I am 25 and already have 4 children so i need something but nothing else has worked i keep getting pregnant with the birth control. I'd rather have 50 kids then deal with the stuff the mirena causes for me though.

Re: high blood pressure

Try condoms or diaphram with spermacidal jelly or sponge with jelly...

Re: high blood pressure

I'm sorry Jamie, it must be difficult having 4 kids in your 20s. I really hope you find a way, I'm sure you will just keep researching.
Good luck,
Mike
