I went off Amlodipine yesterday in hopes my symptoms will go away.

I have numbness/cold in my lower legs by evening
I have a numb tip of my tongue
I have dry/burning inside my lower lip

This all came on after I started this drug July 20th. I have my Dr. ok to quit it.
How long will it take to get this drug out of my system?

Hi Julie,

Amlodipine has a half-life of between 30-50 hours. This means that after 30-50 hours you will have half of the drug remaining in your body. After another 30-50 hours you will then have half of that amount remaining, so 25%. After another 30-50 hours it will be 12.5% and so on.
It all depends on metabolism, age, etc.
I would count on 8 to 10 days for it to be out of your system. Could be a little more or less. So don't panic if you still feel a bit lousy for a while.

Well, thank you. It's been almost a week now and still have the symptoms.

Hi Julie- Let's assume the half-life is 50 hrs rather than 30. It may take 12-13 days for that stuff to be gone from your system.

Are your symptoms lessening at all?

I emailed my Dr. tonight and he actually got back to me. He said it could take 2 weeks but he really doubts it's the medicine.

I'm going to go to a Physiatrist, a Dr. to see what they can do for me. She specializes in Neurology. I've never heard of Drs. being a Physiatrist. So I'll try and get an appt. tomorrow. Thanks for you kindness and replies.
