Do certain foods make your blood pressure increase?

I notice if I eat something spicy that my blood pressure goes up and heart rate. It doesn't have to be something real spicy. If I have a slice of pizza from Papa John's my blood pressure will increase and my heart rate. I was just wondering if anyone else notice certain foods make you blood pressure increase? In my case spicy food.

Yes indeed. I have found that aged cheeses acutely increase my BP. It was Parmesan cheese.

Re: Do certain foods make your blood pressure increase?

Im surprised spicy food makes your bp go up. I drink cayenne pepper in hot water and it lowers my bp pretty significantly. Capsacin "the oil found in spicy foods" is a vasodilator.

For me soda seems to increased my bp, coca-cola, sprite that sort of thing is a no-non in general for me, but when I do drink one my bp skyrockets.

And no, I don't have diabetes. In fact my glucose is perfect.
