Certainly being overweight greatly increases the risk of developing high blood pressure. If your readings are indeed in the 130s, it would be in your healths best interest to lose weight...
These are regarded as accurate, but I have to tell you that I have seen more than a few of the automatics that are not accurate while in use. Im not sure what the reason is for this - perhaps were overdue for calibration. Personally, I use a manual cuff because I have demonstrated repeatedly that automatic (oscillometric) cuffs grossly under-read my systolic pressure (15 mmHg approx) vs. a manual cuff.
