Pulse Pressure?

For the past 2 days my blood pressure readings have been in the 140's/80's or 130's/70's-80's. I've noticed my pulse pressure ranges from 40 to as high as 65. Is this normal for a 35 year old male? I keep reading that pulse pressure over 40 is bad and indicates stiffness in the arteries and aorta.

Well, I certainly hope not (mine's 40-60 and I'm not much older). Wikipedia does remark that if pulse pressure's consistently greater than 100, it's likely an indication of various potentially serious issues.

Have you measured your 'heart rate recovery' number? That's the difference in pulse rates between having exercised for 30 minutes or so [at your 60-80% maximum heart rate, if that's a safe activity for you], then sitting down and taking your pulse at the 2.0 minute recovery point. A difference of under 22 (very, very slow recovery back to a normal pulse rate) is associated with a heightened risk of 'sudden cardiac death' (mine's 36-37, not terrific but apparently outside the known 'danger zone').
