/do I need bp meds?

I have a question. Things have been a little stressful around here, with my mom passing away and getting everything settled. I went in to see a doctor for a check-up. It was not my regular doctor. I was nervous and my blood pressure was 147/88. She gave me bp meds (Amlodipine) which made me feel nauseous, light headed, dizzy, and lethargic. After 5 days I went back to my doctor. My blood pressure was 144/72. He didn't feel that I needed medication and took me off the Amlodipine but prescribed a different med if I felt I needed it. I have been monitoring my bp which runs anywhere from 140-145 over 72-77. Do I really need to take meds? I do use an inhaler on occasion and rarely drink a Crystal Light energy drink.
