I'd like to know if what I've been experiencing is more likely to be stress than hiv.
The end of April I performed unprotected oral sex on another man and he did not ejaculate in my mouth. I didnt notice any precum as well. I also did things such as sucking on his toes and things of that nature. The next day I noticed that was fatigued and later that day my stomach began making noises. Two days after the encounter on a sunday my legs began to ache but they would only really ache when I got up in the morning and I experienced chills in the morning. I went to the doctor the next day and my temperature was 100.5. The doctor did standard blood work and 4 days later my bloodwork was normal. By that time, there was slight irritation in my throat but it was not sore. Over the next two weeks after the encounter the fatigue continued and it felt like I had stomach ulcers or something. My insides just felt like they were moving around. When I would eat something citrus like pineapple I would get hot flashes around my face. After about 2 and a half weeks, my stomach was getting back to normal but it was sore from all that turning in my stomach. The fatigue also went away. Throughout that whole time I was constantly stressed and would have crying spells. When I was doing some physically stressful yard work 3 weeks after the encounter, I noticed my muscles were aching the next day. Then about 3 weeks and a few days, I noticed what appeared to be a small case of glossitis on the tip of my tongue and I did have a slightly white coated tongue. The next day my throat began to feel like it was closing and the next after that It felt like maybe a sore gland near my throat. I also began to feel tired but not fatigued. the sore gland went away about 4 days later but I noticed that the irritated throat and tiredness began to linger. This freaked my out and eventually I noticed that I would always clentch my jaws. i would feel spasm in the back of my neck and near my shoulders. I would ache after doing the slightest physical work. I had a few icepick headaches and dry mouth as well. As my stress level began to go down, the spams went away and the dry mouth and achiness began to go away but I still have this tired feeling and throat irritation after almost 3 months after the encounter. My throat is not sore but I can tell its irritated. Its not scratchy. The glossitis has reoccoured two more times in the same spot. It goes away after about 5 days and comes back every 30 days. Would this be more related to stress because for almost 3 months its constantly on my mind and the fear that it could be hiv. Ive contact a few online forum doctors and they told me that what I was experiencing was not hiv. both said stress but I'd like hear what you all think? I havent had the swollen lymph nodes, diareah, rashes, nausea, coughing or vomitting. does it appear to be hiv?
Well, first things first, performing oral sex, although it may carry a risk, the risk is very slim. You have a better chance of winning the lottery. I mean, think of all the people who perform unprotected oral sex on someone, but are still okay. Unless he was bleeding profusley, and you had cuts in your mouth, then i'd worry. Your symptoms occured to quickly to be ARS. if they occur at all, they usually occur 3-6 weeks after your encounter, and you'll simply feel like you have the flu. i think you're overanalyzing your situation, and if you're that worried, it's best to get tested, just to ease your mind. I think the real issue may be guilt,or something else, but please know that guilt and fear can cause you to go out of control. I hope you're feeling better, let us know what you do

Thank You, I guess Im most worried about the tiredness that has persisted for 2 months now. I hear thats a common symptom of hiv. But I guess it could be symptoms of other things as well including stress and anxiety. the strange throat irritation (not sore though) and the reoccurance of the geographic tongue concerns me too. But Ive also heard that geographic tongue is not a common symptom of hiv especially after infection. I read that geographic tongue is associated with stress and vitamin B defeciency.
All the stuff that you are worried about is identical to what has happend to me. I too have Geographic tongue now and the irritated throat. I really hope that can be caused by stress. The throat isnt irritated all the time in my case only, it just seems to pop up when it wants or linger. I too read that the geo tongue is caused by stress but a doctor told me it is caused by a virus. I really wish he wouldnt have told me that. Has it been three months since your encounter. For me its been almost four and im scared to be tested this time but Im still going to go. My encounter was very low risk as I kissed a girl while having a sore on my tongue. Every thing youve explained to the point is what has happend to me but mine started 3-4 weeks after and night sweats started at 5weeks and lasted 2weeks. Everyone here seems to believe that Im ok but I know in my gut that something is not right. I really hoping its just depression/stress because Ive been going through alot of it. God bless.
Well I dont think hiv can be passed through kissing and even if you had a sore in your mouth, that wouldnt still be likely unless she was bleeding. Ive never really heard in cases of contracting hiv through kissing. Actually it makes me feel better that I am experiencing what you have been experiencing and knowing that your risk is almost zero! Geographic tongue isnt always caused by viruses. You can get them due to stress and they can be allergic reactions and certain spicy foods can cause them to show up. Maybe what we have is some kind of bacteria or fungus that can be picked up from kissing or sexual contact? or it can all just be stress. I'm thinking the stress could have cause extra candida bacteria to build up on my tongue. Thats why its white. That excess bacteria could be the cause of the chronic throat irritation and geographic tongue and the tiredness. Thats a possibilty as well too. Since we are both stressing out over the encounters and are having similar symptoms, maybe it is stress related. Everyone says my risk is low as well even though its greater than your risk. I havent had any night sweats though. My case of geographic tongue is really small. It has reoccured for the 3rd time in the exact same spot on the tip/edge of my tongue. It always grows just a little before going away. I went to the dentist yesterday and I didnt tell her about my encounter but she did notice it on my tongue and said its nothing to worry about. She did say based on looking in my mouth that it wasnt related to herpes.
God I hope your right. Ive also been thinking about the bacteria thing also. Beacause of the fact that my stomach seems to have these weird aches, not bad but very mild. It may be casued by swallowing all the bacteria/fungus passing through the throat(the irritation)and on to the stomach. Is geo tongue a fungus, I believe thats what Ive heard. My geo tongue has occurred 3 times also, the 1st time it appeared that I had bit my tongue as the marking were meeting my teeth perfectly. The 2nd time it was worse. From the middle of my tongue to the tip there were about ten patches and the 3rd witch I am experiencing ow, the tip and edges just like you and one little patch between the middle and tip. Did you experience pain in your jawline or muscles at any time. We should keep in touch. Im glad I found someone on this board that has sytoms simlar to mine.

mine wasnt quite as bad. Just a very small area on the tip of my tongue and it reoccurs in the same place. I've had no pain but at times it felt like the tip of my tongue was tingly or numb like. The top sides of my tongue have teeth imprints. I dont know if my tongue is swollen or the clentching of my jaws due to stress caused it. But no pain in my jaws. Do you experience chronic tiredness as well? Thats whats scaring me because unexplained tiredness or fatigue is a symptom of hiv. I do understand that stress can cause chronic tiredness and stress can lead to chronic fatigue syndome which have common symptoms such as tiredness and chronic sore throats.
I did find out that stress can affect the thyroid gland. problems with the thyroid gland can cause tiredness and a swollen tongue. So maybe my tongue was swollen and thats why I have teeth imprints on them.
I did believe that mine were teeth imprints aswell but thats were geo tongue usually starts or appears, on the lateral borders then tends to migrate( Benign Migratorial Glossitis). I had my thyroid cheched and I believe it was fine. I wake up every day clenching my teeth and I dont even mean to. I think thats the side effects of the anxiety if put my self through. Today my throat felt not sore but as if it were closing or swollen. I wish I knew what it was. Today I also spoke with the girl I kissed. I asked her to get tested about 1 week ago and she was pretty upset about me approaching her with this saying that she was fine and that we barely kissed. She seems fine but her lifestlye that she portrayed to me when I met her seemed pretty high risk. But I really dont know her life style so who am I to pass judgement. She also asked me if I ever found out what was wrong with me and I said no. So that says she believes shes fine. I really hope she is. I did experience tiredness alot in the begining, but when I began to calm down I really deminished. Before all I wanted to do was lay in my bed and be alone, Now I just have a hard time getting up in the morning but once I get going I feel good except for the throat, neck and sometimes weird feelings in my gut.
Its hard to explain the way my throat (esophigus) feels. It doesnt feel scratchy or sore. It doesnt close up but I can feel this sensation that is irritated. Now the back of my throat in my mouth looks red on the sides (not on) of my tonsils. I know I dont have tonsilitis becasue it would be really sore and I'd see white pus spots. Also tonsilitis doesnt last for two months. The tiredness persists and nothing seems to give me more energy, I can eat healthier take vitamins or engery supplements and nothing works.
