needing advice

One month ago I recieved and gave oral sex. two days later, I had a thumping headache which I still get from time to time, with flu like sypmtoms and not felt my usual self, and my mind isnt focusing on things like I did before the oral sex I still feel this way but not as intense as the first week after the oral sex. I have a few ulcers in my mouth at this moment too.Dont know if this is anything to do with it.

how long would it take for the h.i.v to start working itself around my body?

or is it herpes?

this is killing me deep down and im in a right state of mind thinking about it all the time.

thanks for reading.

Re: needing advice

Homefires, I am so sorry that you are stressing over this.

The fact that you are upset and it is effecting your life is the biggest reason for you to go to your doctor or clinic and have a test completed. Until you see the test results with your own eyes and know you are truly negative you are going to continue to guess and self diagnose yourself.

Everyone here is willing to listen, support and help you in anyway so continue to post and keep us up to date on whats going on.

One of the other posters will be able to answer your medical question of the time table better then me, I am sure that one of will very soon.

ARS (the initial "flu like" illness felt first after infection) takes about 3-6 weeks after an incident. However, most people who are positive for HIV will tell you that they've never experienced any type of ill feeling after thier exposure. A majority people find out they're positive by accident, or way after the fact. Now, lets take that, plus the fact that oral sex is considered low risk and calculate the odds of you testing positive for HIV. They're pretty slim, all things considered. You see, in order to become infected through oral sex, there needs to be some blood, and/or some open sores, and even then, saliva acts as a barrier.
NOW...take deep breath. Most likely, the guilt and anguish eating away at you are causing this anxiety. Just to be safe, and hey, for the hell of it, get tested if this is really bothering you. I'd say most likely it'll be okay, regardless of the outcome.
Feel free to ask any questions should you have some. This is a wonderful lpace, as youll see
