Sore on leg HIV??? Please help! - HIV Prevention Message Board

First off, this is a great message board. Everyone is so supportive and caring about the problems we are facing. I need your input on my problem. I have a small bruise-like sore on my right leg. I have no other symptoms. No other type of sickness. I been reseaching on the Internet and I find it very confusing. Some say this is Kaponi's skin cancer(a red flag for HIV/AIDS). But this is supposed to be a late stage AIDS condition. Other websites say it is an 1 1/2 to a 2 years after infection thing. I'm very worried that I have HIV/AIDS. It has been about 2 years since I could have been infected. I had regular hedro sex but think that my gums were infected and that may have led to my infection. Any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate your help. Thanks!

There is no reason to link this sore you have to AIDS but if you are honestly concerned about being infected, why don't you get tested? That way you can put your mind at ease and not worry about every little thing. HIV/AIDs is alot harder to catch than you think. So take the test and unless you have done something extremely risky multiple times, you will probably come back negative.

Thanks, Temperamental, for the advice! I know the only way I can be 100% sure is to get tested. I'm going to the doctor to see about the sore. I will go from there. Its scary to read about sores, HIV, and AIDs, then find one on your leg. I hope its not a sign of having the disease. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks!

Be brave and get tested. When that test comes back negative you'll be glad you did. Life is too short and precious for you to constantly worry about if you are infected, and exposing others. I worried about it endlessly for 4 months, trying to dig up every little symptom, I was sure I was infected and 2 tests showed I was not. Most of us have been through the testing process and it isn't fun. Do it and get it over with.

Thanks Sunflower4U, I went to the doctor today and had the test. I'm very worried about the result, but at least I took that first step. I should know in a few days if I'm o.k. or will have to accept being an HIV infected person. Pray for me! Thanks!
