A good question - HIV Prevention Message Board

Here is a good question for you people.

Do people become infected from fingering someone, then touching their own sexual organs later? Or do they get HIV if a girl touches herself, then later touches the penis or vagina?

I heard this is very low risk but what do you think? A guy at the CDC told me i didn't need a test. I have buddies who told me people get it all the time from this and that scares me. What do you think?

I think your buddies are not very well informed. First of all, HIV is concentrated in diffrent amounts throughout the body. Although it exists in tears, sweat and saliva, the amount is so small that there is no risk. Second, to contract HIV the virus must get into your system through DIRECT CONTACT with your blood stream, such as an open wound. So, the chance that you can catch it in the way you have mentioned is virtually impossible. IF HIV was even presents, I doubt you came in contact with it in anyway that would get it into your bloodstream. The CDC is not in the buisness of comforting worriers, they are there to offer help and education, so if he said your in the clear, you probably are. Now, your more educated about this then your buddies are, so stay safe.

Don't you get tired of answering questions that are absurd.Come on now can you get HIV from someone that played with them self then several hours later touched someones penis?Someone help me am I nuts to think this is the stupidest question out there.Sorry for being so *****y but come on.Instead of drinking beers and eating pizzas sounds like him and his buddies should take AIDS awareness classes....

I agree that some questions seem a little silly, but we are not here to criticize. We are here to offer support and advice. Not everyone is educated on HIV/AIDS like they should be, however, you shouldn't fault them for that. Share your stories and give explanations and move on!
