I had unprotected sex, but my partner did not ejaculate- as far as I know. A week later, I had fever, my tonsils were flared, my lymph nodes in my neck were swollen. I had night sweats, chills, and bad breath.

I went to see my doctor who wasn't in, the NP said it was bacterial and could be strep throat hence the bad breath. She gave me penecillin and did a throat culture. The fever went away, my tonsils went back to normal and I was fine, but felt lazy and tired for nearly a week. The throat culture came back negative. It wasn't strep.

It's now 4 weeks, I just took an HIV test. But the wait is such torture. Can this be HIV? What are the chances that it is? Can sero conversion occur within 4 weeks? How long does it take for sero conversion to take place? Would anti-biotics have worked on the intial symptoms?

Please give me some answers- anyone- PLEASE.

unprotected sex is risky but without ejaculation the risk is lowered.
50% seroconvert by 25 days according to the cdc. the vast majority by 6 weeks.
a one time unprotected exposure is not risk free but the odds are in your favor. you did not state what exactly was your exposure.
if it was unprotected receptive anal the risk is said to be 1/100.
if it was unprotected receptive vaginal the risk is said to be 1/1000.

Thanks for the reply. I'm still waiting for the results- It's taking forever. I had unproctected receptive anal sex.

Can somebody answer this for me-
The penecillian worked on my symptoms immediately. The fever went away, the tonsils went back to normal. If this was a viral infection, would the antibiotics have worked?

No. If it was a viral infection, antibiotics would have been useless. The fact that it worked tells you that it was indeed bacterial.
