Accuracy of hiv test after 8 weeks?

I had a rapid urine, blood test at the 8 weeks, and I also got a test from called chemiluminiscence metod or assay, just to check, all negative. And I have some disconfourt in my groin and arm pit since week 1 and half. I think it can be stress but that is what keep me worring. Do you think with does test I am out of the wood about HIV. Or in what porcentaje do I trust those test if I have a normal to good inmune system.
Thanks

Most people believe 6-8 weeks gives you a 90-95% accuracy. I'm not sure which tests you had done most times they just use ELISA but some use a combo of antigen and ELISA.

Again their are different test like ELISA that checks for antibodys on average it takes about 30 days to test positive if indeed you are infected. Or another example P-24 antigen test which doesn't look for antibodys it looks for an antigen that's associated with HIV on average that takes 16 days to get a accurate result.

Actually, at 8 weeks the antibody tests are going to be more than 99% accurate. Even though the official window period is three months, many doctors consider 8 weeks to be sufficient.

Re: Accuracy of hiv test after 8 weeks?

Hello, I was wondering where you get this information that 8 weeks Elisa test is more then 99% accurate. ?
So that means that 9.5 weeks would be even closer to 100%??

Thanks for the info?

Not sure what test you have taken, but at 8 weeks 3rd and 4th generation results would be conclusive at this time with a normal healthy person and not IV drug user, or a chemo patient.

Well you have the CDC guide lines and the HIV experts opinions and facts in their own practise. HIV experts agree, after 6-8 weeks, depending on the exposure, the persons medical history and test kit, that results will be conclusive
