Getting tested...

Can a person (in the U.S.) get tested for AIDS in a normal clinic or do they actually have to go to a special clinic? Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

Re: Getting tested...

a friend of mine has been ill for quite sometime and they were ruling everything out and his local hospital did the test. It was negative but since he had had a blood transfusion 20+ years ago they decided to rule it out. hope this helps

Re: Getting tested...

The options in the US for HIV testing are as follows:

- Publicly-funded HIV testing centres
- Community Health Clinics
- Sexually Transmitted Disease Clinics
- Family Planning Clinics
- Hospital Clinics
- Drug Treatment Facilities
- TB Clinics
- Doctor's Surgery

So, in response to your question, you can receive testing in your normal surgery.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes,
