1. Fatigue
2. Sore Throat which started about 2 weeks following exposure
3. Oral Thrush - tongue has white covering and has spotty sores - also after 2 weeks
4. swollen lymph nodes in groin - it is not very swollen much.
5. pain in right arm near wrist
6. Had a few red spots in hands and thighs
7. Chills in the night
I am now in week 3 following the exposure. I had a test taken at 2.5 weeks and it came back negative. I know it is too early to test at that time and I need the courage to test at a later point in time. Anyone else who had these symptoms and tested negative? The thrush is really freaking me out.
Symptom chasing is one of the most common things many people do when they have an HIV concern; it is actually one of the most pointless things to do. HIV is never diagnosed by the amount or lack of symptoms you may or may not have. It is diagnosed one way and one way one, an HIV test.
Your risk can be commented on if you would post up details of it but in the mean time do yourself a huge favour stop examining yourself, stop looking at symptoms online and stop trying to self diagnose HIV. HIV is not a DIY project that is ever self diagnosed it is a very serious medical condition that requires specialist medical care and attention. And it is most certainly not diagnosed on forums online or Via Google.
At test at four weeks would be a very good indicator of your status and dependant on your risk could be considered conclusive.

i tested positive myself in under 3 weeks time
that test could be a good indicator
of what your status is.
the only way to have a real clue of whats going on
besides a test, is to asess the risk you took.
hiv is a fragile virus that will only infect someone
under certian conditions.
so depending on what you did
you can figure out
if the chance of it to happening even exist in the first place.

The most important part of your post is missing. What was your exposure? The rest is a waste of time as symptoms mean nothing buddy. If they did 99.9% of the forum posters would be positive, as 99.9% are negative it tells you everything you need to know.

I've had very similar symptoms and it's almost been 3 months but won't do my test til the 18th. Basically now the only thing I have is loss of appetite and that is kind of worrying. Still with that being said I have educated myself enough about this thing to even accept it at this point if I have gotten it. Don't worry who cares and relax your here for a short time anyways

Did you also have oral thrush? Did you get some treatment for it or it went away on it own? I wish I can hold off for testing after 3 months, I do not think I will be able to. I will probably lose my mind by then.

Yeah I had some white spots but they were not thrush (not that severe) very few mild things that go away a day or two after even if I don't use some solution. I had huge night sweats first few weeks after and I had a swollen/soar throat for a good 2-3 weeks after lasting that long as well. No joint pains or any red rashes anywhere basically no body signs. I think it's all psychological like you start worrying about it first few weeks and then of course u have symptoms and you freak out. Then you put it out of your mind and say your fine for a good 2 months. Then in the third month just coming to the third month deadline you start thinking about it again and you probably cause yourself psychologically to experience symptoms and stress due to worry. Like with loss of appetite funny I didn't really have any appetite at beginning and now again since last week I started thinking about the three month mark and lost my appetite again. Just forget about it it really plays with your mind and with your pessimistic mind you find and create symptoms to always think you are infected when just like the others your probably a 1/1,000 - 1/10,000 shot of hitting jackpot so chances are your gonna be fine

Thats NOT an exposure, its not a risk of HIV at all in a million years. Really you have nothing to worry about despite what ever symptoms you get. You cannot get HIV from this at all...

That's what I thought UNTIL i started getting all these symptoms. Especially sore throat at 2.5 weeks and oral thrush. I have never had thrush my whole life. Why would they come now? I do not stress out generally and am a very calm person.

Thrush can be from to much bread, beer etc etc. It just happens, its just a coincendence. For peace of mind if that will help, just take a HIV DUO test at 4 weeks, and your result will be conclusive. If your Symptoms were HIV related, they will show in the test. If you get a negative ( which is more than likley ) then you know your symptoms are not HIV related and then worry is over

You've had zero exposure, have zero risk of HIV as a result of this encounter, and your (extremely nonspecific) symptoms are either psychosomatic, or the result of an unrelated viral or bacterial infection (ie, a cold or flu).
Best wishes.

The title of your thread and the opening post suggests otherwise. You stated clearly you were freaked out and very scared. This is beside the point though. Your risk of an HIV infection is zero and your ailments clearly have nothing to do with HIV.
For you own peace of mind a test at four weeks (which will be negative) will maybe help. As advised already, stop with the self examinations, stop trying to diagnose yourself with HIV and stop with the worst case scenarios.
Buddy, HIV is not a DIY project that is diagnosed by reading about it on the net, and then examining yourself. It is diagnosed one way and one way only, through an HIV test. Given your zero risk, any test you take will be negative.

it is not who knows...
it has been well proven in the medical community
that it is not a risk and that is more believable to me then
someone's overactive imagination...

I agree.. It's just weird to me that HIV wasn't a spec in my mind and I looked in the mirror on day 5 and my tongue was completely white... Had never even heard of thrush. Doctor confirmed it.

Thanks Guys. I did see my doctor and explained everything to him including my exposure. He is going to confirm if it is thrush or not. He said that my anxiety must be causing most of my symptoms. I have also started having diarrhea now for last few days, I hope it is the anxiety. I plan to take the test after 3 months only.
OK, I am back. I pretty much have all the symptoms now. I cant think of anything else these days except the fact that I pretty much have got it. My anxiety has come down for the last few days and am able to sleep in the night. I can't believe my life has turned upside down in a few weeks. Can someone tell me what is it that I have if not HIV.
- Sore throat which started 2.5 weeks after exposure still remains
- White tongue with ulcers for last 3 weeks
- Fatigue (was really bad last 2 weeks) now is better
- Red rashes above stomach and in hands
- Muscle pain, Joint pain
- Had chills for 1-2 nights
- Hands become numb while sleeping
- Pain in heels
- Right hand is weaker than left, I cannot carry my child in my right hand
- Diarrhea
- Short term memory loss
I have lost all hopes, I have a physical sch-ed end of August and was hoping to do the test then. My GP doctor seems pretty unaware of HIV since he told me that a test at 2.5 weeks was pretty conclusive.
