Hello. I am a 23 year old female. In August/early September I was dating and stupidly slept with two guys unprotected as I was on birth control. In September, I took a blood test (ELISA I believe) at Kaiser Permanente, but did not hear anything back (most likely normal). I took another HIV blood test in late December at the same hospital and it came back negative. After researching the internet and contacting an HIV hotline, they say that I should wait 6 months (Late February/early March)to get retested as the December test is not accurate. I have never had an organ or blood transplant and have not been placed on any chemo treatment or immunosuppresants. I plan to get tested again around May/June. My question is, though, is the test in December accurate? If I remain abstinent until then, will my results change or are the current results the ones I should expect in May/June? Thank you for reading.
Hiya. The information you have been given is incorrect. HIV testing guide lines from the CDC state that 3 months from the exposure is conclusive unless as you have mentioned your having certain medication or treatment.
As it appears your last test was 3 months then your HIV negative and do not need to test any further.
I hope that helps

The only reason I am concerned is that I had a few urinary tract infections, so I was on 3 day antibiotic regimines for the two of them. Would that affect my result or am I still ok?

Hiya, medication does not effect your results. Remeber the results are testing your blood and medication apart from immpresents with not effect your test results at all.
Your certainly are HIV negative

I'm just so scared about the six month window period
6 months? No, you do not need to test after 3 months, not in any way or form. Your HIV negative and you do not need to test again.
6 months is for people who you mentioned before, but even then it's very rare that they even need to test after 3 months and I do mean very rare indeed.
Most people 99% will test positive by 4 - 6 weeks, so you can see, 6 months is way out of date. That used to be the guidelines many many years ago when they were learning about HIV and tests were in the early stages. Tests now days will detected HIV from 7 days..
So honestly, you have nothing to worry about
