Quick Question

I took a HIV test and was told it will take one week for the result. I have no idea what method of testing was used but I have a question that concerns me (they took 4 vials)-

I've had a cold for 2 weeks-Could this produce a false postive? As I'm sick with a cold or am 'getting over' it.

Thanks.

Re: Quick Question

Hi Ken, a cold or medication will not effect your HIV test in giving a false negative.

Re: Quick Question

Okay super scared right now. I called my Dr's office today and my results are in. They said if they are unsure if he had a chance to look at it but she said "no news is good news". Oh, I pray he's looked at it and I can now make smarter decisions and NEVER do this again. Gosh, I'm terrified right now!!!!! Would, if the test was postive, be any indication for the dr. to look at the results asap i.e "Urgent" on envolope or something? Please. Im so scared.

Re: Quick Question

If it was positive then you would know straight away Ken. More so take in mind you didn't have any risk, I know your concerned but please don't be, really all is well well mate, please don't read the negative from this, but take it as it is negative. I had a test before Xmas and i was told as well, no news is gd news, 2 weeks later I got a negative, so relax, your fine

Re: Quick Question

Thanks, Apollo. Maybe I'm overracting but I cant help me worry that the reason the results came in so fast is cause they're postive but if they where, I assume it would say "urgent" "priorty" or some indication cause the dr. would have to a councoller there, no? The receptionist said they came in but she didn't sound so concerned. I mean, it would have some idication of urgancy, no?
