Im 17 & decided to take the HIV express kit just to be on the safety side.
Called in for my results the following week and they transferred me to a counsilor to get my results.
The lady asked if I was under 18, and I told her I was 17.
She then said that the test is for 18 year olds and up and I might want to test with a doctor for another test or something.
She then told me my results were negative though.
I called back again today and told her that I was 18 and therefor she just gave me my negative results.
Should I be worried since I'm under age or does age really not matter?
I mean it's just a blood test nothing really changes when I turn 18?
It's the same blood whether you're 17 or 18 so that doesn't make any difference. I'm sure there are legal reasons why the counselor told you that having to do with the fact that you're still a minor. Your parents still own you and all of your medical stuff is supposed to go through them until you reach the age of majority. It's got everything to do with legality of minors trying to make health decisions illegally without their parents consent and nothing to do with having HIV or not.
