Shall I move on from worrying?
Hi ,
I had a condom breakage exposure(Vaginal) with a CSW a few weeks back , and am very worried now.
I tested for HIV antibodies at 8 weeks . Negative
The CSW tested for HIV antibodies and antigens at 9 weeks . Negative
I again tested for HIV antibodies at 10 weeks . Negative
this is my only exposure.
shall i put my fears to rest and move on?
am straight, i dont do drugs and am a healthy individual.

Re: Shall I move on from worrying?
In practical terms, I would say that you are most certainly in the clear, for the following reasons:
1. Antibody tests are highly accurate 6 weeks or later. With modern testing it is unheard of for a negative result at 6 weeks to change, and you have tested well beyond that at 10 weeks.
2. If the CSW was recently infected (in the window period), her test would have been positive for the same reasons.
In theory , meaning according to testing guidelines, you should have a confirmatory test at 3 months, but at this point it's academic. Any test that you take from here on out over this exposure will be negative.

Re: Shall I move on from worrying?
Fully agree with what JOggen has said to you, but 12weeks is the current CDC guide lines so we always go by that. As joggen said, its very unlikley to change, but 12 weeks is golde buds.
