Express kit

How accurate it the express kit?
I heard HIV can take up to 6 months to develope or show up in your system.
I had the unprotected sex with the girl on 05/21/2012 and took the test on 08/10/12 so approxametly 2 months. I had sex with her that one night only.
Results were negative. Just curious and worried if I should take another test later.

Re: Express kit

One time unprotected sex with an women is very low risk. Average HIV transmission risk from and infected women is around 1/1000.
Also after 2 months any HIV test is very reliable and unlikely to change after 3 months. 6 months is outdated as modern antibody test can detect HIV within 6 weeks for almost all the infected person.
Have an another HIV test after 3 months or 12 weeks to get your conclusive negative status.

Re: Express kit

6 months was outdated in 2004. 3 months is the cdc guidelnes for testing. So a test now will be conclusive.

From 2004, CDC and FDA changed HIV testing guidelines. According to CDC and FDA you can get your conclusive negative status if test happened after 3 months. As you have already passed that timeline, anytime now, if you have an HIV test that would be fully conclusive.

Well your 2 month test is not conclusive, only a 3 month test is.

Worried, its only cdc that changed the guide lines, not the FDA

Re: Express kit

I'm getting more confused haha /:
So shall I take the test now or wait until I make it to 6 months?
Really my main question is how confident should I feel about my results and what does "conclusive" mean?

GO and have the test now. Don't have to wait for 6 months. It would be conclusive now.
Conclusive means---100%

You can take a test now and that test will be conclusive. You tests so far are very good and unlikely to change, but to be 100% confident you need another test.

Hope that makes it all clear.
