please help, when to get tested

HIV can be diagnosed by testing your blood for the presence of the virus, however, the test will only detect HIV after three months have passed since you were FIRST INFECTED?
Is this true?
I understand a test at 3 months is conclusive, which i am considering getting purely for piece of mind and to finally end this.
However i now understand that a 3 month test is only accurate since the LAST exposure
I was expsed to bodily fluid in july, i didnt know was hiv positive and so thought nothing of gettingbody fluid on my hands(scraps, nicks etc)
About two weeks later i met my current boyfriend who i have been having sex with without condoms
I have now been told that the bodyfluid was HIV positive.
What if i have passed it onto my boyfriend! Will i need to test 3 months since I last had sex with him or can i still get tested for the 3 months since july??
I understand my risk is megigliable however i feel i need a test for my mental health.

Re: please help, when to get tested

a test taken after 4 weeks is very accurate and a really good indicator of your hiv status.
the results will rarely change after that point.
3 months is considered the conclusive mark
it is that long to err on the side of caution.
the people who will have a problem with it not showing are ones that
will have other major medical complications going on
like a transfusion, cancer, transplant and things of that nature.
the extra time is to make sure all circumstances and possibities are covered.
go get tested and move on after the test
good luck
