Here's my story. Two weeks ago I had sex with a prostitute. Yeah, I know?!!!
Ok, the condom broke sometime (think it was early in the encounter).
I was immediately worried about HIV.
Problem is it was no quick encounter.
I have been having, 4 days after the event, headaches, hot flushes, dizziness and fever. I read about such exterme stess can also be the cause of that.
O, and my penis head had a bit of a burning sensation for a few days after.
Now, couple of days later, the headaches and fever are gone, but now I have swollen lymph nodes in my neck. This freaks me out to an extereme extend.
This was a once off encounter, sex lasted about 40 min.
I am in Afghanistan, cannot just pop into a healthcare facility and get looked at.
I ordered online a couple of self tests (antibody) that can only be used 28 days after possible infection. Witch puts me at Nov 17.
Well as you know you had a risk and only testing will confirm your status. A one off expose is a risk but not classed a high risk. HIV is not that easy to transmit, even if she had HIV which is not that likley.
Forget symptoms, they are pure speculation and we are not going to comment about them apart from nothing would happen before 2 weeks anyway, so your fourth day concerns are not warrented.
I would not test at 4 weeks i would wait to 6 weeks as that time scale would be a very good indication of your status. Personally i would find a testing centre for taking a test.
Fingers crossed all goes well for you.

I decided to follow your advice, wait 6 weeks for testing.
It still eats me up inside to think I might have contracted hiv.
What, percentagewise, is the chances fir me to have contracted this?
What does the rash look like people get as symptoms? (I have a bit of a rash in my neck and top torso, very small little pimple like) Or is this just blocked sweat pores?
I have been working out a lot lately, seems to be the only way to stay sane.
I know I was at risk, some encouraging facts will be most welcome.
Thanks again
Well its unlikley she has HIV and its unlikely to get HIV from a one time encounter, more so from a woman to a man. These are given facts, but take in mind it can happen from a one time exposure although this is very very rare indeed.
I know your looking for odds but personally its pointless as they nver confirm anything. All i can say, you would be very very unlucky if you got HIV from this.

Thanks so much Apollo, that helps.
I did contract gonnorea or clymidia from this mindless encounter, it has been attanded to. Does this put me at a higher risk of contracting hiv?
Its not somthing you can put a figure on because its not based on that way. It seems to apply to % of risk to hiv transmission and if the other person got an std in the process.
Now you can have std's for a while without any sysmptoms ( so the figuers cannot be 100% accurate ) and it seems directly more applicable to the gay community where std's are higher and so is HIV transmission.
I belive you ordered a test, well if you take that now and get a negative that would give encouraging results.

Thanks a lot again Apollo. Still waiting on the tests, will most defenitely test as soon as I get them.
It is encouraging to talk to someone clued-up as yourself. Thanks

Just curious, what, in your educated opinion would you consider as a "high risk"? I know you said mine was a low risk but I value your opinion on this.
I know symptoms are not an accurate way of telling my status but these symptoms just keep popping up, it drive me up the walls.
How accurate would a 5 week after exposure test (antibody lab test) be, Im really having a hard time here
Thanks for your help
Male to male sex and you being the bottom partner is a high risk. Anal sex as a whole is higher.
A 5 week test will be over 95% conclusive and if these symptoms are HIV related then you will test positive. If they are negative, you know these symptoms are nothing to do with HIV.
