Blood on outside of Condom - HIV risk?

Hello everyone,

I just had protected sex with an escort in London. After having sex, I was about to remove the condom when I noticed that there was blood on the outside of the condom. I checked my penis and found no evidence of any blood on it. I am quite concerned about whether this poses any risk of HIV transmission.

Just to add, while the condom had slipped a bit from the base of my penis during sex, I think only the part of my penis that was covered by the condom penetrated her. So apart from the outside of the condom, there was no blood any where else.

Please let me know what you think about HIV risk. I am a bit worried.

Thank you very much in advance.

Re: Blood on outside of Condom - HIV risk?

Hi Krish,

You had a protected sex which is 100% safe sex.
Presence of Blood has no threat to you in this instance as you were protected.
Blood was outside the condom and not inside so you are safe buddy.

There are too many factors involved here.
1) You didn't have unprotected sex. Transmission only occurs when you have insensitive/ penetrative unprotected sex.
2) The person you having unprotected sex has to be infected to infect you on the first place.
3) Condom didn't slip of your Penis which is again Protected sex.

You would be OK mate and testing is not required but you can get tested for the peace of your mind at 3 months mark which will be negative.

Thanks a lot for your reply mate. I am feeling very relieved now.

I must add that the condom appeared to be very lose on the tip of my penis but it was not broken from what I could see (though I didn't test it by pouring water or anything). I was just satisfied that once I removed the condom, I could not find any evidence of blood on my penis.

Also, the condom slipped a bit (a few inches) at the base of my penis but that part was not involved in the penetrative sex that I had (if I am not mistaken) and that part also had no deposits of blood.

I guess none of these should change the answer you've given me. Thanks a lot once again for your reply. It's thoroughly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice mate. You are correct that I am too paranoid about this. I have been considering this myself for a while and I do intend to stop going to escorts (I am hoping to stop very soon).

Krish, save your money and stop now

As for your risk, as long as your penis head is covered,as this was, you wont have anything to worry about. Now stop worrying and find your self a partner

Mate, 2 more questions: I assumed that the condom did not break since the semen inside it was not dripping. Is that a reasonable assumption?

Also, I have a question about condom re-use: I didn't manage to ejaculate after a few initial thrusts; so I withdrew, she gave me a hand-job with the condom on me and after about 4-5 minutes we started having intercourse again with the same condom on me (I must stress that I never removed the condom during those 4-5 minutes and all the sex was vaginal). Here I would like to know what condom re-use means - would what I did qualify as condom re-use or is condom re-use only when you remove a used condom completely and try to put it back on to your penis for sex again? Sorry if that is a dumb question but I would like to know that because the condom appeared to be fairly worn out and I am just concerned that my usage of the condom might have been inappropriate/unsafe.

Thanks a lot! Your replies are much appreciated.

Re: Blood on outside of Condom - HIV risk?

If the condom broke their would be nothing left apart from a rubber ring around the base of your pennis.

The condom was NOT re-used, you just used it. Really your fine. The condom was intact when you had sex, so that means you had safe sex.
